Come join us for a week of everything cello! The PWSA cello choir accepts all levels of students, from intermediate to the most advanced, there is a part for everyone. You must have played in your school ensemble for two years or one year of private instruction. During the week you will be taught by professional cellists in sectionals, cello technique classes, as well as rehearse with all cellos for a performance at the end of the week. You will also have an opportunity to perform at the Hylton Performing Arts Center for their annual Arts Festival held each September.

Kids will sing, clap, and play in our Violin Stars summer course. Students will learn the basics of holding the instrument, proper posture, names of strings, basic rhythm, and fun songs they will learn on their violin. All instruments provided- 6 weeks
Fee: $185 (There will be no class July 4 week)
Intro to Composition
June 18- July 23
* 45 minute coaching/week with one group class- Times TBD
Have you always wanted to write your own music? Let our faculty give you the techniques and the know-how to make it happen. Students will learn basic to advanced music theory as well as collaborate with faculty to create their own composition. At the end of the course, we will have student musicians perform your composition to friends and family. Fee: $299
Tunes for Tots
June 26-Aug. 7 Tuesdays 1:00 PM- 1:45 PM 18 mos.-3 yrs. w/parent or caregiver
Students will be introduced to music through play. We'll bounce, dance, and sing to favorite songs and lullabies. Dexterity, coordination, and rhythm will be developed by playing fun percussion instruments and learning musical concepts such as soft vs. loud, slow vs. fast, and high vs. low.
6 weeks (There will be no class July 4 week)
String Sampler Camp
July 9- July 13 10:00 AM-1:00 PM Ages 7-11
Designed specifically for beginning students or students who are switching instruments. Students will get a hands on approach to learning the violin, viola, cello, bass, and piano. Kids will learn about the instruments, names of strings and parts, note and rhythm reading. Students will learn how to play songs on each of the instruments.
All instruments and lunch provided.
Beginning Piano Camp
July 16- July 20 9:00 AM- 12:00 PM Ages- 7-11
Beginning piano students will enjoy a week of everything piano! Come learn note reading, proper playing techniques, rhythm and music history, all while playing games and having fun as you learn.
Chamber Music/Private Lesson
August 6- August 10 10:00 AM-12:00 PM
Playing in a small ensemble such as a quartet, trio or the like is one of the best ways to enhance your skills, plus the repertoire is beautiful and vast. Students will be placed into groups with other similar skilled students. They will receive a private lesson daily as well as an hour group rehearsal with a faculty coach. There will be a performance at the end of the week. Open to violin, viola, cello, bass and piano students.

Work with professional musicians on your audition preparation. We will focus on the following: prepared excerpt, sight-reading skills, scales, practice techniques, and successful audition practices. Students will have a mock audition every day to help prepare them for the real auditions that happen in September and October.
